MG+BW

We were in Atlanta over the weekend celebrating a friend's birthday and did a little browsing at Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams.  It's now my favorite furniture store, and they manufacture it right up the road in Taylorsville, NC!

We found two pieces that we think will look great in our new (alleged) home:

The Jordan sectional:
And a rug, maybe for the dining room:

We actually saved a little!

So nothing new on the house really. Last we heard we're on the list for February delivery. That means they'll need to break ground by the end of this month... we're not holding our breath.

We did find out that our upgraded Michael Graves light package was discontinued. Bummer. But since we didn't like what replaced it, we went standard and saved a little dough.

Yep, I typed STANDARD. (I checked the definition and spelling before posting...)

Stay tuned...

Random - Lowe's had our granite and cabinets on display

I was in Lowe's last week and stumbled upon our exact granite and cabinets. (Well, our cabinets might have a little more yellow to them, but you get the idea.) Pretty cool!

Nothing new, but how about this dining room table and rug?

There is nothing new to report on the builder breaking ground. We're still waiting for them to sell another house - given the last two weeks and the uncertainty about Wachovia and jobs in Charlotte, who knows how much longer we'll have to wait.

That's ok though, we're having fun thinking about our dining room decor. In addition to the pieces above on the focal wall, what does anyone think of this table and the moorish rug - maybe in orange??

Our first new house purchase

We were shopping on Sunday and found these awesome old maps of Paris and London for a steal of a price, so we bought them! Our first purchase for our new home!

Booo - only 2 sold

Apparently one of the buyers decided on a different building. But, my sales rep said she has 2 hot prospects, so we'll see....

Hardwood, tile and carpet selections

Yesterday morning we met with the designer at Charlotte Flooring and chose our hardwood floor, kitchen backsplash, tile and vinyl for bathrooms. It was more stressful than we thought, but the outcome (we hope) will be amazing!!

Here's the kitchen color palette:

Here's our carpet and hardwood:

Here are our master bath selections:

I just realized that I never uploaded photos of our appliances:

3 out of 4 sold!!!

We took my sister to Park South yesterday and discovered that 3 of the 4 houses in our building are sold!  This means they may start construction fairly soon - just depends if they want to have another spec house on their list to sell.  (They already have 1.)  YAHOO!!

Primed to select flooring and tile

We spent some time at Home Depot design center today looking at tile, hardwood and back splashes.  I have hopes it will help when we go to Charlotte Flooring to make our selections this Thursday at 8am.

Honestly, I think this is what I'm most excited for.  I've put a few pics of of things we like - what does anyone think??

Neighbor

We're so excited - Catie who works with me at LendingTree bought a house down the street from us at Park South! We plan to rule the social committee.

Only thing is, her building is being started now, so she'll move in before us.... no FAIR!

Duke Power's CEO will hand deliver a thank you gift to our new home!

The mortgage is officially approved. Now, I need them to hurry and build the house before Tom decides he wants more lights! He has NOW decided that he also wants above-cabinet lights in the kitchen (this is in addition to the under-cabinet lights and all the recessed lights!). It may be possible to see our house from Pluto thanks to all the lights!

No more sold

Shannon was away for the weekend, but of course I still had to stop by and see if any more homes in our unit had been sold.

None. Darn.

But, I did see that a few more were sold in other units.... promising.... Plus, maybe the housing market won't be at a 1o year low next month...

Now we wait

It seemed so intense making the decision to buy and build this house, now we have to wait for it to be built - which is tough. We are ready to start packing now...

If you know anyone looking for a great townhome, tell them about Park South Station! (So long as they're cool.)

Speakers, security and MORE RECESSED LIGHTS!

We met with the technology installer today and picked out really cool stuff. They are going to pre-wire for both TVs we already have, and wire everything into a media closet on the first floor - no wires anywhere!

Plus, we'll have speakers on the patio, in the kitchen and dining room and in the master suite. (Also in the great room for surround sound.) It will be a party house for sure.

Security is all set up too - neat advances since the last time I bought one. They have "pet motions" for cats and dogs that don't trip as long as the animal weighs less than 100 lbs. Saves you paying to wire every door and window.

Plus, we settled on adding 21 recessed lights. Ha.

Can't wait

We're meeting with the Tech guy on Saturday morning to pick our speakers and home theater stuff - I can't wait!

Mortgage Application

This part sucks, so much paperwork. I vow to make it better for everyone. When banks compete....

Recessed Lights

I love recessed lighting. Shannon thinks I will leave them all on. (Very possible...)  We walked through the model today and agreed where they'll go. Let there be light.

We're building a house in Charlotte!!

After 6 months of trying to figure out where we're going to live, we took the plunge and put in a contract today on a new townhouse at Park South Station in Charlotte, NC. We're really excited!

This is the model of the home we'll build. It's called the Fenmore. Ours will look a little different, and the brick will change, but this gives you the idea.
