Dining room table and banquette from Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams

We went to Hickory Furniture Mart last weekend and scored big time. Can you say 66% off retail! Bought this table (includes a leaf) and this super cool banquette:

Last week's progress

Not too much done last week - biggest news is that they started construction on the front steps:

And here's our stove ready to be installed:

And here I am testing out our bathtub :-)

Ryan cancelled the contract! Hickory here we come.

So we're almost all set to close on the new place in Southborough!  Hooray!  We are so happy to be done with Ryan homes, and so happy to be moving into our cool pad closer to town.

AND Shannon has agreed to go up to Hickory next Saturday to the Furniture Mart sale - happy v-day to me!

Disappointed in Ryan Homes

So I just want to put a word of caution out there if anyone is dealing with Ryan Homes.

I requested a contract termination on 1/25 (basically, let us out, they keep the deposit money) and just found out this morning that the sales representative didn't process it. In the meantime, they've issued a start for the building our unit was in because they sold another house. I feel like it's sneaky somehow, like if it got far enough along we'd be obligated. Shady.

Long story longer, I think we'll be ok and get out of our contract, but I just don't trust anything they say or do anymore...

That's it for now!

Refrigerator box - Before and After

Many of you know of my love for details :-) That's why you won't be surprised when I tell you that we're having the cabinetry around our refrigerator area changed so that there are panels on both sides, and the space accomodates a 36" counter depth fridge - giving us a builtin look!

It won't actually be done until after we close, but the cabinets are already on order!

We bought another house!

So you may have heard we were building a house in Charlotte... well, we cancelled our contract because nothing happened in 7 months. And frankly, we grew tired of waiting.

Good news. We bought another house, new construction, that's a little smaller, much closer to town, and most importantly, finished next month!

It's in a community called Southborough, just south of uptown Charlotte in a neighborhood called Dilworth or South End, depending who you ask.

I've pictures, floorplans, and all kinds of things to share, so stay tuned!

Below are all of the old posts from our other blog

CANCELLED

So, news flash, we terminated our contract at Park South Station today because we bought another house!!
